FOLLOW ME

To those who confess to be followers of The Lord Jesus Christ; Our first priority in life is to love God, followed by our love for mankind, it is not to care simply for those who attend our local congregation or are part of our denominational organizations, No! it is to follow Christ in obedience and holiness, to set ourselves apart from the world and conduct ourselves in the manner that re-presents the Christ to the world. We have lost sight of our call to be separate from the world in that we are not to be influenced by their vain philosophies or justifications for doing what we know to be ungodly; we should not do those things which are not proper; we should not be filled with unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; we should not be gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; we know the ordinances of God, and we know that those who practice such things are worthy of death, and should we not do or be these things, but neither should we give hearty approval to those who practice them. Our indifference to human suffering and injustice is a mockery to the body of Christ, we are not seeking the lost in love and compassion but rather we are condemning them for their sinful state. Why are we not reaching out to them and teaching them about Jesus? Why have we become content with building our own little kingdoms, secretly serving the God of mammon and justify our lack of compassion with cold indifferent statements like “they need Jesus! Isn’t that us? Are we not his eyes to look upon the masses and be moved with compassion; are we not his hands to reach out to those who are hurting and hungry to give them food and substance? Are we not his feet to go to the masses of lost, disturbed and disillusioned souls to bring liberty to the captives and mend broken hearts? It pains my heart when I consider the Word of God which declares to us “behold I give unto you power over all the works of the enemy and all we do is maintain a form of godliness while denying the power thereof; where are the greater healings? The greater compassion, the greater forgiveness, where are the greater things of God that we as followers of Jesus were to do? It saddens me to see that the greater has become the lesser! If there is no hope in God by those of us who say we are His, then what hope is there? …How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
In Christ,
Bishop
