The Sublety of Idolatry

Let me start with a disclaimer; my heart is to challenge the body of Christ and take captive the false notions, of false images, of the Risen Christ: So, here we go; let’s say for arguments sake, that we had an accurate and affirmed photograph of the Lord Jesus Christ (which we don’t) and let’s say that we knew exactly how He looked: portraying and idolizing pictures of Him would still be idolatry; for in doing so you would be glorifying the flesh of Jesus not the Spirit of God that dwelled in Him. Also the apostles made a clear and distinct effort at teaching that the kingdom of heaven was within and that all who would confess their sin and seek forgiveness through the Lord Jesus Christ having believed in the word of truth, which He was, could enter in. The scriptures go on to tell us that those who knew Him after the flesh, know him no longer after the flesh, for God is a spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Lastly I want to say in love (of course) that the wiles of the devil are crafty; he is more cunning than any beast of the field; therefore we must guard our hearts and minds with all diligence that we be not deceived. Lets get back to reality and the true worship of Christ our Lord in spirit and in truth; not in clichés or cute little euphemisms that serve to protect people from being offended; (newsflash) the children of darkness are offended by the children of light! Jesus was despised for the truth…if they have done these things to our Lord why seek ye to avoid such suffering? Is the slave greater than his master? Or the student his Raboni? take stock in the gospel and stand on what the Lord our God has taught us; he who walks after the flesh shall of the flesh reap destruction, but he who walks after the spirit shall of the spirit, reap life everlasting! – Let us worship God in spirit and in truth and bring glory and honor to our King and redeemer, as we journey home; for we are foreigners here!
Stop trying to fit in, where you have been called out from – Obedience is better than sacrifice!
Peace & Blessing
